Jesus might say:
Many read the Bible at face value, as if they were reading a normal book and feel they have gained understanding and know how to apply it. Egregious things have been done in my name because these readers have a flat, human understanding of the Bible. My Word will be misinterpreted unless I, myself, am revealed in it by my Holy Spirit. That’s because my Word is living and active (Hebrews 4:12): If you allow it, the words of the Bible actively get inside your heart and change you from the inside out.
My Word is me talking to you, and you cannot hear me
properly unless that Word is illuminated and infused by my Holy Spirit.
Whenever you open the Bible, say a prayer that my Holy Spirit will show you
what I'm saying through it, and help you to apply it and hear me speaking directly to you.
