Permission to be Imperfect

A bundle of golden wheat stalks tied with twine rests on a wooden surface, glowing in soft sunlight with blurred green foliage behind it.

Papa God,

In ancient times You commanded harvesters to leave sheaves of wheat in the fields for the poor to gather (Leviticus 19:9–10). As I walk through the fields of my day, I choose—by Your grace—to drop a few sheaves of imperfection in everything I do, small offerings for You to glean.

I embrace and offer my imperfections to You as tiny crosses (Luke 9:23), tokens of praise. Each one is a small death to my obsession with being perfect and a fresh acknowledgment of Your ultimate perfection.  When I make a mistake or fall short, in my mind and spirit I offer that shortcoming up to your care.

I dare to embrace my imperfections because only You are perfect. They become a quiet showcase of Your exclusive glory.

May these offerings rise as a “soothing aroma” to You (Leviticus 2:9).

I acknowledge that only You are flawless, and

I gladly leave to You the delight of being The Perfect One

The Only Perfect One.

With all the love in my heart,

Your child

Cyndi is a Christian writer with a heart for grace and freedom in Christ. Through fresh reflections and scripture‑rooted devotionals, she invites readers into rest and relationship. She longs for those who see themselves only as “sinners saved by grace” to know they are truly good in Christ, and for those who strive and battle, to hear that the fight is finished. Her writing is shaped by the promise from Isaiah 40:1–2 — God’s call to “Comfort, comfort My people with gentle, compassionate words. Speak tenderly from the heart to revive those in shame, and proclaim that their warfare is over. Their debt of sin is paid for, and they will not be treated as guilty. Prophesy to them that they have received from the hand of God twice as many blessings as all their sins” (paraphrase from TPT). She lives in Florida with her husband of 37 years and their dog, Smudge.
