Where Fruit Begins: The Quiet Work of Becoming

Close‑up of a strawberry plant showing a white blossom, a small green unripe berry, and a ripe red strawberry, illustrating the stages of fruit growth.

I call you to bear fruit (John 15:16), but remember: fruit is never the starting point. It is the end of a long, intentional process. In creation, fruit begins with a simple branch that stays connected to its source. From that branch comes a tender bud. In time, the bud opens into a flower — a brief, delicate moment that allows pollination to take place. Only then does a tiny, almost unnoticed swelling appear… the earliest form of fruit. Slowly, steadily, it grows and matures until it becomes something nourishing, beautiful, and complete.

In the same way, I ask you to submit to My process. Allow the lifegiving sap of My Holy Spirit to flow through you the way nutrients flow through a living branch. Take the step that begins the process — not by striving, but by abiding.

Remain in Me. Stay connected. Let My life move through you. As you do, you will grow to become more and more like Me, moment by moment. I Myself will grow the fruit of the Spirit within you. What begins small and hidden will, in time, become visible, mature, and life‑giving as the process of time unfolds.

With love beyond measure,

Jesus

Cyndi is a Christian writer with a heart for grace and freedom in Christ. Through fresh reflections and scripture‑rooted devotionals, she invites readers into rest and relationship. She longs for those who see themselves only as “sinners saved by grace” to know they are truly good in Christ, and for those who strive and battle, to hear that the fight is finished. Her writing is shaped by the promise from Isaiah 40:1–2 — God’s call to “Comfort, comfort My people with gentle, compassionate words. Speak tenderly from the heart to revive those in shame, and proclaim that their warfare is over. Their debt of sin is paid for, and they will not be treated as guilty. Prophesy to them that they have received from the hand of God twice as many blessings as all their sins” (paraphrase from TPT). She lives in Florida with her husband of 37 years and their dog, Smudge.
